Humble Sale creator Ben Gaston was recently asked to share his thoughts on situational coaching and more in a podcast for “Coffee, Collaboration and Enablement” a podcast series by The Collaborator. Here you can find the full video plus some brief thoughts from Ben.
It is an honest admission that I felt quite nervous going into this podcast recording. The podcast series by The Collaborator is gaining momentum around the world and I felt pressure to represent the UK & Ireland region well. However, I needn’t have worried, Dr Jeremy Noad is a great host and we had an enjoyable conversation (more about Dr Jeremy below).
In the course of our conversation we covered the following topics:
- Situational coaching
- Sales coaching in this era of selling via online platforms
- Thoughts on the year ahead
- Authenticity
- Being Humble and Curious
- Embracing the Opportunity to change How you meet Customers and much more!
A jam-packed 25 minutes!
Situational Coaching
The main focus of the conversation did become the situational coaching topic. This is because the current fusion of operating on Zoom, Teams or similar platforms combined with face to face selling presents a great coaching opportunity. No longer is the only choice for a sales coach to run a workshop or provide some field accompaniment. Instead, coaches can use technology to provide hybrid models tailored to sales individuals. As a result the sales professional may just have a greater chance of success.
Enough of my typing, here is the full interview!
Thank you for taking the time to watch.
A Request to Sales Leaders and Coaches
My main request to all sales leaders, coaches and managers is this. Please remember that every member of your sales team is different. If you take the time to understand the skills gaps, motivators or mindsets of each person in your team three key things will happen. Firstly, they’ll feel more valued and become more loyal and motivated. Secondly, your deeper understanding of their coaching needs will make you a more open, aware leader and better coach. Finally, your sales results should start to thrive!
